![]() ![]() When he spots the ghostly guide again, he heads for that entrance, finding a dead pirate not far inside.Ī map showing some details of the Crab Coast.Īfter traversing traps and killing enemies within the temple, he finds a way to open the main entrance, allowing Patty inside as well. The main entrance is blocked off, so the Son of Steelbeard searches for a way across a river to an alternate entrance. After defeating them, Patty assumes they are the rearguard and warns that their captain is likely to be inside the temple. Most ruined buildings the Steelbeards find have minor items ( coins, bones, scrolls of Parrot Flight, etc.).Īs they approach the main ruin, however, they find three pirates at a campfire. Shortly after heading inland from the beach, a ghost appears a short distance ahead of them, as if guiding them to the treasure they seek. The ruins of native temples are a temptation, especially with rumors seeming to confirm riches awaiting within. Patty Steelbeard, with her brother, comes to the Crab Coast in search of treasure. Because of this, it is reasonable to assume this was one of the last locations to have a portal open, but this is never stated in the game.Īs the location for the opening chapter of the game, a fair amount of time is spent here initially. Why would Piranha Bytes design the sole most important female character of this game this way if she wasn't originally supposed to be the player's girlfriend? This may sound like a macho cliche, but that's really how visual design in games often works, especially back in the day and especially with a developer like Piranha Bytes who were never exactly progressive in their games.Although also the site of a crystal portal, the Crab Coast is not overrun by Shadows as other locations in the Southern Seas, a fact shared by the island of Kila. Way better looking than in Risen 2 and she wasn't exactly ugly in that game. I can't remember everything but some dialogue lines, quests and other details supposedly hint at the fact that we originally had our beloved hero at first. I recently watched an in-depth review about Risen 3 and the guy stated the theory that we originally were supposed to get the nameless hero from Risen and Risen 2, but for some reason they changed it during development. Not yet finished with the game but 52 hours in. it looks to me it was changed at some point and some dialogs rewritten. I guessing he went back to the Inquisition but there should be an explanation.Īlso the plot, so far, seems to be originally created for the Nameless One, he dies, losses his spirit, so it "resets" because he forgets stuff, Patty crying over his dead, what has zero impact when you know that character for 5 minutes. I know he is in the game as cameo but he dosent tell anything. Ive reading into the lore to see if there is any explanation as to what happened, there seems to be none, whats really bad. Then i look at Patty and i have a really hard time beliving thats Patty, and im not only talking about physical appearance here (Alvarez looks like Alvarez, Bones looks like Bones, but Patty?), she seems to have no issue in plunder temples for gold for example when in Risen 2 not only she does not cares for gold, she didnt liked that the Nameless One to go into those temples "for fun". ![]() So i got all 3 Risens on a steam package and i really enjoyed Risen 1 and 2, as i already played Gothic in the past i knew what to expect in certain aspects.īut ive played Risen 3 for an hour and so far i hate all of it, at first i didnt know who that guy was and i could not understand why they changed him. ![]()
